#brightandshiny: August

Welcome back lovely readers!
I hope you've all had a wonderful summer.

I've had a tumultuous August! I've been making so much progress at work I've been busy beyond belief, as well as looking after my husband and animals, getting the house ready for a new floor going down and getting ready for going on holiday for our anniversary. The last week of the month running up to the bank holiday was the busiest of all, as I had my first ever training workshops at work. All the hard work and effort put in was worth it though, as they were a total success and I loved every moment! Hopefully there will be more and more happy training stories to tell in the coming months...

August was a fun and food month for the most part, with plenty animal shenanigans thrown in for good measure. My husband and I spent a lovely day up at my parent's house helping to look after the little ones whilst their parents were at a book signing (my sister-in-law is an author ya know!). We had a lush day playing games, eating way too much food and my niece even helped me make some things for my training sessions. Little Alex just loves spending time with his Uncle Nick and Sully Dog, they're a treat to watch.

Lots of baking seemed to come along with August, cupcakes and crumbles in particular - even a crumble cupcake! I successfully organised a bake sale at work which raised over £200 for Marie Curie. As a thank you for organising that as well as the male leg-waxing event, my manager got me a lovely bottle of wine. She's so nice, and knows me so well!

Obviously the end of August brought with it our very first wedding anniversary! I can't believe it's been a year already, the time has flown by. So much has happened too, it's like we live a completely different life from this time last year. We're both so happy and settled, doing well in our careers (Nick has just started his fancy new graduate job) and just generally loving every day.

We spent our anniversary in Amsterdam, and had the most wonderful day exploring the city, the museums and, of course, eating. Nick surprised me with the most exciting gift ever - he has booked to take me back to Iceland in December, and then on to New York for new year! WOW!! Talk about lost for words. I was overcome when I opened it, I just couldn't believe my eyes. He had arranged the whole thing in secret, even arranging my time off work with my manager.
He is some kind of special.

I'll leave you with some photos of our #brightandshiny moments from August, and I hope you'll return when I do a full post about our amazing trip to the Netherlands.

Til next time, CH x
